It is troublesome to use computational fluid dynamics softwares because of demanding preparation, but FlowDesigner lightens the requirements. It enables us to calculate many different conditions without trouble.
This can be useful for technical sales, factory ventilation management, teaching aids for designing at colleges.
Because you don't have to cut the grid manually, it analyzes flow and thermal quickly.
The design cocept of the software, which is user-friendly simulation software for air conditioning engineers and sales persons, is really interesting. FlowDesigner realizes the concept almost completely. This issue has been discussed among the work group in The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. This concept should be accepted by other areas which deal heat transfer in mechanical engineering. This can be used in education, too.
For enhancing comfort and saving energy at homes and offices, we are studying Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells and Micro Gas Engines for next generation Home Cogeneration and urban energy systems related to global warming and the heat island problems. In this type of studies, computational fluid dynamics helps tremendously in terms of testing air flow and thermal conditions inside and outside of buildings. However, conventional CFD requires specially trained professionals. It becomes big concern to the project in time and cost. FlowDesigner has been developed based on working knowledge in order to make configuration, calculation, visualization all possible with easy operation with graphic user interfaces. It made CFD feasible for users without formal training in CFD, such as engineers and sales persons who can really utilize the power of CFD. For expert users, there might be shortage in functionalities but the developers of Flowdesigner are working on fulfilling such demands. We are looking forward the improvements. I thought it was difficult to use CFD simulation software but it visualizes invisible phenomena like air flow and heat transfer to help me convince my customers. Fellow sales persons are also interested in using this software as their business tool.
Concentrating necessary functions and it became an excellent tool for sales persons visualizing designs in front of customers. This is what we need at sales scenes.
We use CFD simulation for proposing our designs. Until now, we had to spend a lot of time cutting meshes and it limited us to simulate only once for most cases. Since it is time-consuming, we were not sure if we cut meshes correctly. We used to spend an half day waiting for calculation on our PC. In many cases, we need to calculate multiple conditions to compare, it could be a week waiting. FlowDesigner has great usabilities in mesh cutting, boundary condition setting, etc., it takes only up to 2 days to calculate for even very complicated cases. This helps us for timely reports to our customers.
